Experiences and feelings

Only those who have carried Christ and His Mother on their shoulders for the long hours of a procession can explain what it feels like under a float. The role of a costalero is a labor without pay, an effort without apparent reward. It is a total dedication from those who expect nothing in return. Just as someone holds a child in their arms, rocking them until they fall asleep, the costalero puts the same love into carrying God and the Virgin through the streets of the city.
