When the echoes of the drums from the carnival troupes still resonate in the streets and the carnival festivities are still in full swing, the calendar inexorably moves toward a new celebration. The people of Badajoz, deeply rooted in both festivities, find the transition easy. It is possible to be a carnival reveler and a confraternity member. It is possible to passionately participate in the grand carnival parade and, at the same time, feel the solemnity of a silent procession in the dim light of night. Of course, dressing up in a costume is not the same as wearing a Nazarene tunic, but in Badajoz, we know how to give each thing its proper time and place.
